Describe an activity in plain words. Get a level, the reasoning, and one concrete move toward each level above.
A sentence or two is plenty.
Try one
Read a Substitution activity, then rewrite it so it could not happen without the device. A reader outside the classroom, collaborators who aren't classmates, or work with no paper equivalent all score well. "Students make a video" alone is usually still Modification.
