Evaluate a lesson
Describe an activity in your own words. You get a level, the reasoning behind it, the case for staying where you are, and one concrete move toward each level above. Suggestions stay inside the software this district actually has.
Your lesson
Two or three sentences is plenty. Say what students do and what they use.

Rewrite it at Redefinition
Read a Substitution activity, then write a version that could not happen without the device. You get a score out of five with what worked, what is missing, and one model answer.

How to read what you get back
The level is a starting point for a conversation, not a grade. Two thoughtful teachers place the same activity differently, and the boundary between Augmentation and Modification is the fuzziest one. If the reasoning does not match what you know about your students, trust yourself.
The line headed "staying here is the right call if" matters as much as the climb steps. Plenty of good teaching sits at Substitution on purpose. Read more about the four levels.
